ADAA Fair Names 63 Exhibitors for Inaugural Rebranded Edition in November

The Art Dealers Association of America (ADAA) has named the 63 galleries that will participate in its upcoming New York fair, recently rebranded the ADAA Fair.

The fair returns to its longtime home of the Park Avenue Armory on the Upper East Side, though will a few key changes. It will run a couple weeks later than usual, from November 13–16, to coincide with Art Week NYC, a new four-day week program initiated by ARTnews and Art in America. Its preview gala on November 12 will now benefit the Whitney Museum, and this edition is the first under the direction of executive director Kinsey Robb.

 The cancelation of the ADAA’s annual fair, previously called the Art Show, last year surprised many, with its organizers saying it was taking a “strategic pause.” At the time, the ADAA announced it had also ended its longstanding partnership with the Henry Street Settlement, the previous benefactor of the preview gala. (Henry Street Settlement found a new partner Independent, which hosts its annual fair in May.)  

“For more than three decades, our annual fair has created space for those conversations to happen,” Robb said in a statement. “While the ADAA Fair marks a new chapter, the qualities that have long defined our fair remain unchanged: thoughtful presentations, genuine dialogue, and a collegial community of galleries committed to excellence. Those experiences matter because they deepen our understanding of art, strengthen relationships across the field, and remind us that galleries play an essential role in supporting the arts and enriching our cultural life.”

The 63 participating galleries are chosen from the ADAA’s 200 members, who are admitted via a peer-reviewed process. They come from 23 US cities in 12 states. Founding ADAA members Hirschl & Adler and Kraushaar Galleries will participate alongside galleries that exhibited in the inaugural ADAA Art Show in 1989, including Berggruen Gallery, GRAY, and Schoelkopf Gallery.

First-time exhibitors include Alexander Berggruen, Sargent’s Daughters, Hollis Taggart, Piero Atchugarry Gallery, and Nicodim. Recently admitted ADAA members, such as AH Arts, David Lusk Gallery, and Luis De Jesus Los Angeles, will also make their debut.

The fair has also announced several highlights for the upcoming fair: a solo booth of Betye Saar’s assemblages at Roberts Projects; a range of 20th-century works on paper in a salon-style hang in joint booth by Marc Selwyn Fine Art and David Nolan Gallery; a four-person presentation on artists from the South by Tennessee-based David Lusk Gallery; unique works on paper by Alteronce Gumby at Pace Prints; and a survey of artists supported by the Whitney from the 1930s to ’50s courtesy Jonathan Boos.
