'No Food, No Power, No AC': U.S. Sailors 'STARVE' Aboard Navy Destroyer For 4 Days Near China
Fresh trouble for the US Navy as another American warship reportedly suffered a major engineering failure in the South China Sea. The USS Benfold, an Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer assigned to the US 7th Fleet, was reportedly stranded for at least four days in July after losing functioning bathrooms, galley services and air conditioning. No crew members were injured, but another ship had to provide meals to the sailors. The incident comes as the US Navy faces growing operational demands across the Indo-Pacific and Middle East. The USS George Washington has left Vietnam for the Middle East, while the USS Abraham Lincoln is heading back to San Diego after spending more than 200 days at sea.
