Emma Roberts Marries Cody John in Charming Idaho Wedding

This scream queen has found her king.

But before Emma Roberts could wed Cody John in Idaho on July 25, the Scream Queens actress first had to find her perfect Monique Lhuillier gown.

"I just knew that I wanted it to feel very vintage-inspired," Roberts told Vogue at a final fitting the week before the ceremony. "I'm obsessed with antique books and treasure hunting, and I love collecting old ephemera, so I really wanted that to shine through in the dress."

Going for a "tea-stained" color for the silk chiffon gown, the bride noted she "wanted to look like a ghost—a little antique ghost doll." A removable shawl, headband and voilette all made out of lace added to Roberts' vintage ensemble.

"I’ve been married in a movie before, and I tried out wedding dresses for that, which feels so weird," the Maybe I Do alum continued. "So now, it’s the real deal."

And Roberts—who changed into a black, corseted dress by the same designer for the after-party—had some really star-studded guests. Like, her Oscar-winning aunt Julia Roberts, seen in photos of the outdoor ceremony obtained by Page Six.

Who Is Emma Roberts' Husband Cody John?

Like Roberts, John is an actor. Over the years, he's appeared in TV shows such as Wu-Tang: An American Saga, In the Dark, The Rookie and NCIS as well as in movies, such as Jaunt and the short film You.Matter.

While his career is on-screen, John prefers to keep most of his private life off-camera. Since 2019, he’s shared only nine posts on Instagram—including four birthday tributes to Roberts for each year they've celebrated together.

"You make everything magic," he wrote as she turned 35 in February, "happy birthday Emma."

How Did Emma Roberts and Cody John Meet?

The two struck up a romance in 2022 after meeting through friends in the industry, a source close to Roberts previously told E! News.

"Emma loves Cody's personality," the insider shared. "He's really funny and they have been having a good time together."

Later that year, Roberts and John made their relationship Instagram official. In August 2022, he posted a black and white photo of them kissing on a boat, captioning it "sweet sweet." Four months later, she celebrated the new year with a series of snaps that included one of them holding hands on the set of her movie Space Cadet, writing, "#2022 I loved you happy new year hotties!"

In July 2024, the pair announced their engagement. Playing on how her mom leaked the news of Roberts' pregnancy in 2020 by replying to a fan on Instagram, the Holidate alum captioned a photo of herself flashing her engagement ring alongside John, "Putting this here before my mom tells everyone."

Was Emma Roberts Married Before Cody John?

While this is Roberts' first marriage, she was previously engaged to Evan Peters.

The two began dating in 2012 and made their red carpet debut as a couple in January 2013. Six months later, Roberts was arrested in Montreal after police were called to the hotel room she shared with Peters over an alleged conflict reported by another guest in a nearby room, law enforcement sources told E! News at the time. No charges were filed.

"It was an unfortunate incident and misunderstanding," Roberts and Peters’ reps said in a statement to E! News at the time. "Ms. Roberts was released after questioning and the couple are working together to move past it."

John is now stepdad to Roberts' son Rhodes, whom she welcomed in December 2020 with then-boyfriend Garrett Hedlund. While Roberts and Hedlund split in early 2022, they continue to co-parent.
