Jenelle Evans Shares Update on Son Jace After He Checks Into Mental Health Facility

Jenelle Evans is celebrating her son.

The Teen Mom alum commemorated her son Jace Evans' 17th birthday with an emotional social media tribute following his stay at a mental health facility earlier this year.

"I HAVE A 17 YEAR OLD!" Evans captioned a carousel of throwback pictures with her son—who she shares with ex Andrew Lewis—on Instagram Aug. 2. "Being a teenager can be hard, but you seem to handle it well. You’re so smart, curious about life, and handsome. Hope today is everything you’ve wanted and more! I love you @jace_vahn."

The 34-year-old—who also shares son Kaiser Griffith, 12, with ex Nathan Griffith and daughter Ensley Eason, 9, with ex-husband David Eason—had previously spoken out about Jace's wellbeing after he was checked into a treatment center after he pulled a gun on his grandmother back in February, Evans' rep confirmed the following month.

"A lot of people think that because I’m being so quiet that I might now be doing anything and not taking action,” the former MTV star said on the La Femme Talk podcast in April, “but just know that if I’m quiet, I’m up to something."

“I’ll let you know something that I haven’t told anyone,” Evans continued. “I’ve been very quiet online but behind the scenes I’ve been actually getting help for my son and he’s in a safe place [with] a holistical [sic] approach and he’s very happy right now.”

She added that her eldest son was "very focused on himself," which she said at the time was "the most important thing.”

Evans had also asked for some space and understanding from her followers on social media as her family navigated the difficult situation.

“Behind the scenes, I'm doing everything I can for my child, and I'm doing what's in the best interest for him,” she said in a video posted to TikTok in March, “and that's none of your business to know.”
